Job Summary:
The Assistant Social Worker performs a variety of duties to help the social worker by providing information, resources, and guidance to help clients access social services.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Assesses clients needs during routine visits; identifies ways to support clients with a variety of social and lifestyle needs.
- Compiles an accurate and detailed client history through interviews.
- Assists clients with adjustment to a variety of life changes such as adoption, unemployment, social reintegration of incarcerated persons, and civilian transition for military veterans.
- Provides clients with information and guidance on available government support programs; conducts follow-up sessions to ensure services are provided.
- Collaborates with supervisor to identify additional available community services.
- Drafts and maintains required reports, logs, and records.
- Contacts clients to arrange appointments.
- Assists homeless individuals in procuring food and shelter.
- Arranges and participates in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- If applicable, ensures cleanliness of social service facility, maintains compliance with applicable guidelines for those receiving services and care, and oversees daily group activities in the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent observational and listening skills.
- Patient demeanor with the ability to relate to, empathize with, and show compassion for a variety of personalities.
- Ability to manage uncooperative clients.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
