Job Summary:
The Financial Examiner will review and authenticate financial records to ensure the organization complies with applicable financial laws and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees and plans work for assigned staff.
- Trains new hires in financial examination process.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assesses the organizations assets and liabilities by reviewing balance sheets, income and expense accounts, and loan documentation.
- Reviews cash reserves, collateral, and bank-owned securities and verifies internal control procedures.
- Resolves any issues related to banking institutions including investment portfolios, earnings, and specific accounts.
- Assesses data processing applications and makes recommendations for existing systems.
- Evaluates audit reports from internal and external auditors to confirm adequacy of reports; identifies any issues with internal routines.
- Determines effect of new, proposed, or revised laws, regulations, and policies.
- Recommends updates and modifications to accounting systems to ensure compliance with new and revised regulations.
- Develops procedures and policies that comply with new and revised regulations.
- Creates reports that illustrate the organizations financial stability and compliance with regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extremely proficient with accounting software.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required; Masters degree preferred.
- Five years of related experience required.
- CPA designation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
