Job Summary:
The Director of Alumni Relations will build and maintain positive relationships between the University and alumni.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains Alumni Relations employees.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of Alumni Relations employees.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Acts as liaison between the University and its alumni.
- Creates, develops, organizes, and coordinates various events for alumni including homecoming weekend, class reunions, connection and networking dinners, and special guest speakers.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with alumni.
- Develops and promotes general fundraising activities geared toward alumni.
- Coordinates Alumni Relations activities with other departments and activities of the University.
- Oversees the maintenance of and updates to the alumni directory.
- Develops, oversees, and adheres to the Alumni Relations budget.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of the university including alumni and past and present employees.
- Outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate the work of various people including staff, alumni volunteers, student volunteers, and potential donors.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in a related area required; Masters degree preferred.
- At least three years of experience in Alumni Relations or as a leader in a volunteer organization or a fundraising role.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Requires frequent travel including some nights and weekends.
