Job Summary:
The Court Administrator will oversee and manage the various administrative functions of the court.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains court employees and support staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manages, oversees, and directs the daily operations of the court system.
- Assists with and plans for implementation of new technologies and procedures to improve court efficiency including those affecting filing, recordkeeping, and case management.
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures to address needs of the court system and to ensure efficient and effective use of judicial resources.
- Collaborates with judges to draft and administer the annual budget for the court.
- Organizes and distributes court calendars, schedules, and judges travel itineraries.
- Oversees the administration of jury operations.
- Oversees and manages court accounting procedures.
- Acts as a liaison for the court with the public regarding the courts activities.
- Collaborates with technology staff to ensure all necessary equipment is working properly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand established clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and filing systems.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and to apply best practices of office management.
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential records and information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in related field such as Public Administration, Business Administration, or Judicial Administration, required.
- Three to five years of related legal, judicial, or government administration experience required with management experience highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
