Job Summary:

The Computer Operator will maintain and support the hardware and software systems on an assigned network.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintains and supports computer hardware and software systems.
• Ensures system backups are regularly and successfully performed according to a predetermined schedule.
• Maintains the cleanliness of computer equipment and regularly performs other operation maintenance functions.
• Determines whether computer equipment is in proper operating condition and reports malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Develops and maintains accurate reports of equipment and/or software malfunctions.
• Ensures secure environments are maintained for all computer equipment, data files, supplies, etc.
• Develops and maintains an inventory of data processing supplies and informs supervisor as reorders are needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Very good verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to analyze problems and select most appropriate corrective action.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.
• Ability to perform and back up data entry.
• Basic understanding of hardware and software used in computer maintenance.
• Thorough understanding of various computer operating systems.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Data Processing preferred.
• At least two years of experience with a variety of operating systems.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
