Job Summary:
The Computer Operator will maintain and support the hardware and software systems on an assigned network.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains and supports computer hardware and software systems.
- Ensures system backups are regularly and successfully performed according to a predetermined schedule.
- Maintains the cleanliness of computer equipment and regularly performs other operation maintenance functions.
- Determines whether computer equipment is in proper operating condition and reports malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Develops and maintains accurate reports of equipment and/or software malfunctions.
- Ensures secure environments are maintained for all computer equipment, data files, supplies, etc.
- Develops and maintains an inventory of data processing supplies and informs supervisor as reorders are needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Very good verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to analyze problems and select most appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.
- Ability to perform and back up data entry.
- Basic understanding of hardware and software used in computer maintenance.
- Thorough understanding of various computer operating systems.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Data Processing preferred.
- At least two years of experience with a variety of operating systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
