Job Summary:
The Climate Change Analyst will review and evaluate scientific research and data to identify how shifts in climate will potentially affect natural resources, animals, and civilizations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Compiles, analyzes, and clarifies information, data, and research regarding environmental management and climate change.
- Analyzes existing climate or environmental management legislation, regulations, policies, and practices to determine actual and potential environment impacts.
- Communicates research findings to legislators, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and academic papers.
- Recommends new or adapted laws and policies involving factors that have the potential to impact climate.
- Advises government agencies or environmental groups regarding environmental issues through studies, reports, memoranda, briefs, testimonies, or other written materials.
- Advocates for actions and policies meant to mitigate climate change to government and environmental groups.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to develop educational and outreach programs regarding climate change.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent data analysis, mathematical, and deductive reasoning skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of environmental science and climate change.
- Thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory processes related to environmental management and climate change.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or related field required; post-graduate degree preferred.
- At least five years of related work experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
