Job Summary:
The Athletic Director will lead and administer the schools athletic programs and physical education department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees and manages entire athletic program and department to ensure quality competition and sportsmanship for and in athletes.
- Assists the Principal with recruitment and hiring of coaches and athletic staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Schedules and facilitates all athletic contests, which may include recruiting and arranging medical, safety, and other support staff; coordinating use of athletic facilities; and completing and maintaining contracts and similar documentation.
- Arranges transportation to and from all away athletic contests.
- Oversees ticket sales and financial accounting for the athletic program.
- Manages insurance coverage for the athletic program; ensures that claims are filed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Organizes required medical examinations for students and staff.
- Maintains excellent working relationships with athletic booster groups; when necessary, helps with the creation of new or additional support groups for specific teams and events.
- Coordinates with local media to ensure coverage of athletic events and recognition of athletes and coaches.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Ability to create, execute, and implement budgets.
- Ability to plan and implement teaching and coaching assignments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in physical education required; Masters degree in athletic administration or equivalent training and experience preferred.
- At least five years of experience as a physical education instructor and athletic coach required.
- Valid teaching certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse various athletic grounds and facilities.
