This act, which the Ohio House and Senate passed unanimously, requires all Ohio employers to provide pay statements to employees containing specific information about wages and hours worked.

Once April 8 rolls around, you will need to ensure the following information is contained on each and every earnings statement you provide your workers:
- The name and address of both employee and employer;
- Total gross wages and total net wages;
- A breakdown of additions and deductions from wages, with a brief explanation of each;
- For hourly employees, the total hours worked, hourly wage rate, and any overtime hours included in the calculation; and
- The pay date and the pay period it covers.
Employers are free to deliver this information either on paper or in electronic form.

The PSPA requires an employee who does not receive a statement as required to make a written request to the employer to receive the statement and the employer shall provide the employee with the statement not later than ten days after receiving the request. If the employee does not receive the requested statement within the ten-day period, the employee may report the violation to Ohio’s director of commerce. If the director determines that there are reasonable grounds to believe there was a violation, the director shall issue a written notice to the employer. On receipt, the employer shall immediately post the notice, or a copy of the notice, in a conspicuous place on the employer’s premises for 10 days.
