Q: I understand that to recertify, I must earn 60 professional development credits (PDCs) within a three-year cycle. If I earn all 60 PDCs before the end date of my current recertification cycle and I have more credits than required, will those additional credits carry over to my next cycle?
A: If you have recertified with more than 60 PDCs in your account, you may carry over a maximum of 20 PDCs into your next recertification cycle. All carryover credits are added to the Advance Your Education portion of your recertification record.
Q: Are only certain types of PDCs eligible for carryover?
A: All PDCs are eligible to be carried over.
Q: Can I add PDCs to my previous cycle?
A: No. PDCs cannot be added to a previous cycle.
Q: Why are there limits to carrying over credits?
A: Recertifying demonstrates that your knowledge and competency skills are current and up-to-date during a particular period of time. This ensures your commitment to continued professional growth and development.
