ALEXANDRIA, Va.— Over 600 members of the HR, business and employment community will convene virtually for SHRM's (the Society for Human Resource Management) inaugural Employment Law & Compliance Conference (ELCC). Taking place April 6-7, the event will help attendees gain insights and provide tools and resources to successfully anticipate and navigate employment laws, stay compliant and mitigate legal risks.

Urgent workplace issues, such as changing leave laws, workers compensation claims, workplace harassment and emerging technologies, will be focal points of SHRM's ELCC. Sessions are designed to help organizations stay compliant and up-to-date on pressing topics amid a changing workplace landscape, including:

  • Beyond Compliance: Empathy Incentive to Follow the Rules, presented by Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President & CEO, SHRM and Nick Schacht, Chief Global Development Officer, SHRM
  • Pandemic Silver Linings: Transformative Workplace Changes for Women Across the Globe, presented by Emily M. Dickens, Chief of Staff, Head of Government Affairs & Corporate Secretary, SHRM, and Sean Sullivan, Chief Human Resources Officer, SHRM
  • Global Standards for Reinforcing Respect and Minimizing Harassing and Other Unacceptable Conduct, presented by Jonathan A. Segal, Partner & Managing Principal, Duane Morris Institute
  • The Leave Law Puzzle: The FFCRA, FMLA, and Leaves of Absence for Pandemic-Related Issues, presented by Louis R. Lessig, Partner, Brown & Connery, LLP

"With changes to labor laws, immigration policy, and health care imminent, 2021 is going to be a tremendous year for workplace legislation. We know business and HR leaders—now more than ever—are working tirelessly to ensure the workplace is safe and employees remain healthy and compliant," said James L. Banks, Jr., SHRM General Counsel. "ELCC21 will help employers and employees carve out a roadmap to best prepare their workforce and have the expertise to respond to new and evolving workplace and employment law issues."
