Jury Duty Pay Policy




Objective

To provide income protection while an employee carries out the civic responsibility of serving on a jury.

Eligibility

Full-time and regular, part-time employees are eligible to receive jury duty pay.

Amount of pay

[Company Name] will provide the difference between pay received by a court for jury duty and an employee's regular day's pay, for a maximum of five workdays. Jury duty absences in excess of five days will be considered for pay under this policy on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibility

Upon receipt of notification from the state or federal courts of an obligation to serve on a jury, the employee should notify his or her supervisor. The employee is required to provide copies of the jury duty notice to his or her supervisor and to the payroll department.

The supervisor will verify the documentation by contacting the office issuing the jury duty notice and make scheduling adjustments to accommodate the employee's absence. The supervisor will also provide the court documentation to payroll for processing.
