Job Summary:
The Automotive Engineering Technician will assist the Automotive Engineers by conducting inspections, tests, and data analysis needed to identify and resolve safety, performance, efficiency, and quality issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs automotive system or component tests to determine performance, durability, and efficiency.
- Gathers and analyzes test data for related systems and parts.
- Determines the cause and nature of defects through inspections and testing.
- Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, charts, and schematics related to automotive engineering projects.
- Reports suggested improvements based on data, observations, and analyzations of both.
- Creates or modifies prototype components.
- Maintains and monitors manual and computer testing equipment, supplies, and replacement parts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and extremely accurate.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Proficient in related computer software and technologies including Microsoft Office Suite, CAD and AutoCAD.
- Proficient understanding of mathematics.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and installation or modification duties.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required; Associates degree in automotive engineering technology highly desired.
- Three years of experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
