Piyush Mehta is the Chief Human Resources Officer and Country Manager for India at Genpact Limited, which has a global workforce of more than 125,000 employees helping companies around the world transform with Data-Tech-AI. Mehta leads Genpact’s global Human Resources function, playing an integral role in the company’s ongoing journey to be an employer of choice.
As a key member of the Genpact leadership council, Piyush has contributed to a wide variety of areas involved in people management in both business and corporate roles, including employee relations, organization capability, integration of mergers and acquisitions, technology led transformation and managing the HR function for profit-and-loss businesses and geographies.
Piyush joined GE/Genpact in 2001 and led HR engagements across various businesses. He was appointed as CHRO in 2005 and has since been part of the team that took the company private (as a spin off from GE), with 2 majority PE investors (General Atlantic partners and Oakhill), then public on the NYSE in 2007, and worked closely with Bain Capital when they invested in 2012. Through this journey, he has worked closely with Genpact’s Board and Compensation Committee on talent, leadership succession and executive compensation related matters.
Piyush has played a pivotal role in 2 CEO transitions at Genpact over the last 19 years. The first was from Genpact’s CEO & Founder to “Tiger” Tyagarajan in 2012; and then earlier this year from Tiger to BK Kalra. In this transition, he has partnered intensively with the Board, the Compensation Committee, and the incumbent CEO’s to drive a seamless transition. He is the based India and represents the Genpact leadership team in the geography, as the Country
Manager for India. He has been part of the NASSCOM (the leading association of technology players in India) executive council and is also a commissioner on the global certification council of the Society for Human Resource Management. He is a Designated Officer of the company.
He began his career with Hindustan Lever and served as HR director for AT&T in India and as the organization capability director for Frito-Lay, Asia Pacific.
Piyush has a post-graduate degree in personnel management from the XLRI, India, and a bachelor’s degree with honors in economics from Delhi University.
