SHRM Leaders Attend WCPI 30th Anniversary Congressional Gala Reception
On April 9, SHRM staff attended the Women’s Congressional Policy Institute’s (WCPI’s) 30th Anniversary Congressional Gala Reception in Washington, D.C. The event marked three decades of WCPI’s work to advance bipartisan leadership for women in federal policy. The event also celebrated the legacy of the organization and recognized the contributions of women in the 119th Congress. The evening included tributes to the late Susan F. Wood, Ph.D., a founding board member of WCPI, and the late former Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.—both of whom contributed significantly to the organization’s mission. WCPI recognized Cindy Hall, former president of WCPI, for her leadership, while Jennifer Lockwood-Shabat, was introduced as the organization’s new president.
The program featured remarks from several leaders, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.; former Ambassador Connie Morella; WCPI Board Chair Mary-Lacey Reuther; and WCPI Vice Board Chair Keenan Austin Reed. Pelosi’s speech highlighted the importance of bipartisan leadership and the role women play in shaping effective policy.
