BRIDGE for Workers Act Awaits Biden’s Signature
The Building on Reemployment Improvements to Deliver Good Employment for Workers Act (BRIDGE for Workers Act) is heading to President Joe Biden’s desk after passing the Senate. Originally introduced in the House as H.R. 5861 by Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Ill., and Rep. Danny Davis, D-Ill., the bill makes a technical correction to the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) program to help unemployed workers re-enter the workforce more quickly. The BRIDGE for Workers Act allows re-employment services to be provided to all unemployment insurance claimants, not just those likely to exhaust their benefits. These services include in-person interviews offering job search assistance, career information, re-employment plans, and additional career services such as financial literacy and resume writing.
