Record-Breaking SHRM Annual Conference & Expo (SHRM24) Kicks Off in Chicago and Virtually
SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. Calls for HR to Raise the Bar for Human-to-Human Civility
CHICAGO - The SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2024 (SHRM24) officially opened today in Chicago and virtually. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from over 400+ speakers and 375+ sessions to explore the latest trends in the ever-evolving HR landscape, from talent acquisition, mental health, empathetic leadership, and employee engagement, HR technology, and more.
Breaking all-time attendance and revenue records, the McCormick Place Convention Center will welcome more than 26,000 human resource professionals, executives, students, and others. Approximately 2,200 of those attendees are registered to attend virtually.
SHRM President & CEO, Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP made opening remarks Monday morning as keynote speaker, saying, “In a time of deepening societal division, HR must raise the bar for human-to-human civility. It’s bad – and it’s getting worse. We, HR leaders, are the lifeline [people] will hold onto. We and our organizations will give them a living and a future. We have to bring them through.”
‘America’s #1 Most Trusted Morning Show News Anchor’ and TODAY Show Co-Host, Al Roker, took the main stage Sunday, kicking off the conference. Roker spoke about his experience working in the broadcast journalism industry and the civility and resiliency he witnessed throughout his career.
SHRM24 runs today through June 26 at the McCormick Place Convention Center and virtually. The conference will focus on the state of HR, from the role of AI and HR to how we can create more civil workplaces.
