SHRM's Emily M. Dickens Named to Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Advisory Council

“The CHCI and SHRM partnership is impactful,” Dickens said. “I am thrilled by the opportunity to serve on the council and to work even more closely together to develop diverse, emerging leaders for tomorrow’s better, more inclusive workplaces.”

CHCI, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, educates and connects Latino youth by providing leadership programs and educational services.

In her new advisory role, Dickens will have opportunities to bring SHRM’s workforce development expertise and thought leadership to CHCI’s work. “SHRM strongly believes an investment in our youth is an investment in America’s workforce, and I look forward to adding value to a mission shared by CHCI and SHRM.”  

An attorney, Dickens joined SHRM in 2018 after significant experience in government and higher education. She has served as a member of the leadership team at the University of North Carolina system, the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Dickens has also worked at Duke University and Fayetteville State University. She is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and North Carolina Central University School of Law.

SHRM’s strategic partnership with CHCI spans more than 10 years and includes collaborations such as the “The Growing Hispanic Demographic and the Workplace” research report.

The 2019 CHCI Board of Directors and Advisory Council will be led by Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., who will serve as chair.
