Job Summary:
The Security and Fire Alarm Systems Installer will coordinate installation of security and fire alarm systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Installs, tests, and repairs security and fire alarm systems.
- Consults with client on system requirements; provides system recommendations and cost estimates.
- Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.
- Runs wiring and circuits, installs hardware, and attaches electrical wires.
- Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; makes adjustments and repairs as required.
- Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary.
- Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
- Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of security and fire alarm systems and installation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read installation and system manuals.
- Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical and fire codes.
- Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational/technical school training highly preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
- Physically able to install system hardware and wiring.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time.
