Job Summary:
The Petroleum Engineer will research, develop, and implement methods to improve oil and gas drilling, extraction, and production.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and/or oversees the installation, maintenance, and operation of oil field equipment.
- Assesses the economic value and extraction cost of oil and gas wells and determines the economic feasibility of potential drilling sites.
- Researches and recommends best practices, including placement of wells, to increase production.
- Forecasts product recovery and treatment.
- Drafts and prepares plans for oil and gas field drilling.
- Collaborates with engineering and technical staff to address design, research, and testing problems.
- Provides guidance and expertise to other departments and staff with questions and problems related to drilling operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of oil and gas extraction and drilling techniques.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering required.
- At least five years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse various types of terrain at drilling sites.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
