Job Summary:
The Insurance Transcriptionist will transcribe dictation from tape and produce legally acceptable text data of claimant and witness statements and interviews, and investigators audio file summary reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Transcribes dictation from investigators into letter or report form using a computer word processing program.
- Operates optical scan recognition machine to enter corporate text or insurance industry technical information into a computer data bank.
- Maintains a high level of accuracy and confidentiality needed for legally binding documents.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Knowledge of leading software packages and typing skills at least 60 words per minute.
- Willingness to work overtime depending on volume of work in agency office and to meet mailing deadlines.
- Knowledge of insurance industry terminology helpful.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Completion of transcription classes highly desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
