Job Summary:
The Editor will assist with editing, revising, and producing a broad variety of professional documents such as articles, manuals, proposals, and other publications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Uses word processing software and text management systems to edit and prepare copy for manuscripts and presentations.
- Edits publications according to specifications for style, tone, and length, while also ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Assists writers with selecting and finalizing artwork, photography, and text for reproduction.
- Ensures articles, manuals, proposals, and other publications meet style, formatting, and general quality standards.
- Ensures publications are completed on time and within applicable budget constraints.
- Examines physical proofs of printed materials.
- Confirms that publications meet customer specifications.
- Maintains current knowledge of developments and trends in the area of content specialty.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with text management and desktop publishing software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or related field required.
- Two years of editing experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
