Job Summary:
The Architectural Drafter will use an architects specifications to create detailed drawings for buildings and structures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees lower-level draftspersons and technicians and evaluates their work.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and interiors from an architects rough drawings.
- Studies building codes and regulations and determines how they will affect architectural designs.
- Organizes structural, electrical, and mechanical designs.
- Draws plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects.
- Visits jobsites to gather data needed to complete designs.
- Determines the types of materials needed and calculates the quantity to be ordered.
- Working with an architect, generates costs estimates, contracts, and other documents required for individual projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD software and other architectural drafting tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Drafting required.
- Three years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
