Job Summary:
The Classified Advertising Sales Manager will oversee the activities and staff involved in selling classified advertising for print and online publications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Interviews, hires, and trains classified advertising sales representatives and clerks.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of representatives and clerks.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures orders are efficiently and accurately handled and customers are treated politely.
- Verifies the accuracy of ads.
- Oversees bill collection and information and assists, as needed, in the billing department.
- Collaborates with Advertising Manager to develop special promotions or offers meant to increase the use of classified ads as well as the departments revenue.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with current and potential advertisers, providing excellent customer service and explaining the benefits of making a commitment for classified ad usage in exchange for favorable contract rates.
- Develops and maintains records on the quality and efficiency of the departments performance; prepares and reports information to Advertising Manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple administrative duties.
- Ability to treat all customers and employees politely.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least two years of office experience, with at least one year in a supervisory position.
- Experience in classified advertising department preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
