Job Summary:
The Energy Auditor will inspect buildings to assess current energy use then make recommendations to optimize efficiency and minimize cost.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Visually inspects buildings and related systems including mechanical, electrical, and process systems to determine energy consumption in each area or system.
- Uses a variety of tools such as air velocity monitors or digital thermometers to collect field data related to energy use; analyzes the results.
- Performs appropriate and applicable tests to determine the extent of inefficiency.
- Establishes baselines for energy use and needs by quantifying energy consumption.
- Provides thorough education to end users regarding energy efficiency; fields and answers related questions.
- Identifies energy saving opportunities, calculating potential savings and prioritizing areas with the most return on investment.
- Composes and presents audit reports containing the results of the energy analysis and recommendations for improved energy efficiency.
- Recommends alternate energy sources and other energy efficient technologies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact well with customers and coworkers.
- Good research and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to explain complicated matters to a variety of individuals.
- Thorough understanding of buildings and building systems (including lighting, building envelope, and mechanical systems), as well as combustion science.
- Basic understanding of methods used for technical and cost savings analysis and reporting.
- Ability to correctly conduct in-field energy assessments.
- Basic understanding of energy modeling software.
- Basic understanding of energy conservation principles and techniques.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, with a demonstrated interest in energy conservation required.
- At least two years of experience conducting comprehensive energy audits required; three to five years preferred.
- Certification as a building analyst required or in pursuit within six months.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to locations to conduct audits. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
