Job Summary:
The Cable Television Installer will install cable systems and electronic devices at subscribers homes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures home can be connected by inspecting indoor outlets and feeder lines.
- Securely connects coaxial cables from wall to end of box, DVR, or television.
- Connects home units to outside lines; runs or installs new lines as needed.
- Programs cable boxes and Internet modems.
- Inspects connected devices for proper working condition.
- Demonstrates and teaches customers how to use specialized remote controls, digital video recorders (DVRs), or other company-provided hardware or technological device.
- Maintains inventory of supplies on truck and requisitions necessary supplies.
- Repairs lines as needed, which may include both isolated and area-wide repairs.
- Adheres to all safety protocols, guidelines, and checklists.
- Develops and maintains logs and records of service calls, time spent, tools and equipment used, and the nature of the call.
- Recommends improvements to area lines when recurring problems arise.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Thorough understanding of cable television installation methods and policies.
- Thorough understanding of and ability to use appropriate tools.
- Excellent customer service and ability to work well with others.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of apprenticeship, apprenticeship or formal training in electronics..
- Successful completion of on-the-job training.
- Valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs.
- Must be willing to work at heights.
- Must be able to operate electrical tools and splice cables.
- Must be able to differentiate color coding of cables.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
