Job Summary:
The Biochemical Engineer will design biochemical products and solve problems related to materials, systems, or processes using specialized knowledge of biology and chemistry.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consults with manufacturing staff regarding issues with bioproduction processes.
- Evaluates and studies processes to identify areas where improvements can be made.
- Conducts follow-up experiments to meet process objectives.
- Works with manufacturing or quality assurance departments to generate product specifications, operating procedures, or user manuals.
- Reviews biomanufacturing processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Records results of experiments in database and maintains database for future access.
- Establishes method for transferring processes from laboratories to manufacturing production.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of biology and chemistry.
- Ability to process oral and written information effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with scientific computer software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field required.
- At least four years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
