Job Summary:
The Bindery Operator will run and maintain machines that bind printed pages to produce books, magazines, catalogs, and other publications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates machinery to cut, fold, glue, trim, bind, and finish the final printed product.
- Reads work orders and sets the machine in accordance with job specifications.
- Completes trial run and evaluates the quality and appearance of the product.
- Adjusts machinery as needed prior to starting the project.
- Ensures that companys safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Ensures that binding machines are in proper working order.
- Sends completed orders to shipping department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot problems with machinery.
- Ability to work with stamping, trimming, pressing, and binding machines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous related experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing during machine operation and working in a loud environment.
- Must be physically able to operate and repair machine, which may involve bending, squatting, and crawling.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at a time.
