Job Summary:
Operate as a member of the anesthesia team by maintaining equipment and supplies and assisting with sterile procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Stocks anesthesia supplies and drugs in all operating and delivery suites. Maintains adequate supplies of medical oxygen, nitrous oxide, and air.
- Consults operating room schedule to determine equipment needs for special procedures and prepares operating room accordingly.
- Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots anesthesia department equipment according to instructions and protocols of equipment manuals. Cleans and disinfects anesthesia equipment after use.
- Assists with sterile procedures, including Swan-Ganz placements, blood transfusions, administration of spinal, epidural, and other pain blockers.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in a health or patient-care related field including six months of training and experience working in an operating room.
- Regular attendance and satisfactory performance for at least six months at hospital workshops and training classes.
Physical Requirements:
- May require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
