Job Summary:
Drives ambulance or assists ambulance driver in transporting sick, injured, or convalescing persons.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Accompanies and assists emergency medical technicians on calls. Drives ambulances or assists ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescing persons.
- Places patients on stretchers and loads stretchers into ambulances usually with assistance from other attendants. Administers first aid such as bandaging, splinting, and administering oxygen.
- Restrains or shackles violent patients.
- Removes and replaces soiled linens and equipment to maintain sanitary conditions. Replaces supplies and disposable items on ambulances.
- Reports facts concerning accidents or emergencies to hospital staff or law enforcement officials.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current drivers license required.
- Ambulance drivers certificate required.
- Understanding of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that apply to ambulance service.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting while driving.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times with or without assistance.
