Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive, to Address Mental Health in the Workplace at the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo
Alexandria, Va. — SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) announced today that Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive, will speak on Tuesday, June 14, at the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo 2022 (SHRM22), which will be held in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from June 12-15.
Live on the SHRM22 Main Stage, Huffington will lead a conversation focused on the importance of workplace mental health.
"Mental health in the workplace is absolutely critical to both employee and employer success. In fact, SHRM research found 57 percent of U.S. workers feel mentally and physically exhausted at the end of the workday, while another 50 percent report feeling burned out from their work," said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and chief executive officer. "Arianna Huffington's mission of changing the way we work and eliminating burnout is key to creating a successful work environment and to helping effect important changes we wish to see in our workplaces."
Huffington is the founder and CEO of Thrive; the founder of The Huffington Post; and the author of 15 books, including Thrive and The Sleep Revolution. Thrive, which she launched in 2016, is a leading behavior change technology company whose mission is to change the way we work and live by ending the collective delusion that burnout is the price we must pay for success. She has been named to Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people and the Forbes World's 100 Most Powerful Women list.
"Five years ago, we launched Thrive with the mission to end the global epidemic of stress and burnout. When the pandemic hit, the themes at the heart of our mission suddenly became among the most urgent issues of our time, bringing employee well-being, mental health and resilience to the top of companies' agendas," said Huffington. "And now we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine work and productivity as companies increasingly realize that well-being is not a perk but an essential strategy for success."
Huffington will join the lineup of over 200 speakers at SHRM22. Other speakers include Bruce D. Broussard, president and CEO of Humana Inc., and Timothy S. Huval, chief administrative officer of Humana Inc. Broussard and Huval will lead a discussion on the intersection of work, workplace, people and business, talent strategies, and the crucial partnership between the CEO and the chief administrative officer.
Both in-person and virtual attendance will be available. HR professionals, CHROs, people managers and students will have the opportunity to engage on best workplace practices, discuss new data from SHRM, learn about the latest trends and benchmarking, and explore how to build a better workplace culture.
The theme of SHRM22 is Cause the Effect, encouraging business and HR leaders to boldly bring about the changes they want to see in the world of work. More speakers will be announced in the coming months. To learn more, please visit annual.shrm.org.
