This was an excellent event. I am new to the HR world and as a transitioning soldier from a long career in the military, the insights gleaned here were incredibly helpful. Thank you all so much and will certainly be around for future events!

LaToya Wood

I plan to use all the nuggets of advice from the panel in order to build my career in HR. Great session!

Great job SHRM! I really enjoyed this experience. I feel like I challenged myself and now I am more confident. Thank you.

HR Pathways & Perspectives

Our national and regional one-time virtual career mentoring events – HR Pathways & Perspectives - are designed to increase students’ awareness of HR career pathways, gather HR career insights, and expand HR professional networks. These 60-minute events feature HR professionals representing diverse demographics, career experiences, roles, and perspectives ranging from Chief HR Officers to early career talent. SHRM student members and non-student members can attend multiple one-time events.

HR Talent Accelerator

The HR Talent Accelerator is a four-week, member-exclusive virtual experience that leverages project-based learning and group mentorship to explore HR career pathways and develop high-demand skills in a small group setting. Each week, SHRM student members will engage with featured HR leaders in Q&A focused on trending HR topics in talent acquisition, learning and development, diversity – equity – inclusion, data analytics, and more. Following these facilitated discussions, student members will work in small groups to complete a short, project-based learning challenge focused on the theme of the week. Each small group will be supported by an HR career mentor.

  • Across the four-week program, student members will dive into the world of HR and discover more about themselves and their career goals
  • The time commitment for students/emerging HR professionals is 90-minutes for four weeks.
  • The time commitment for mentors is at least one 90-minute session aligned to a mentor’s career experience.

HR Career Mentoring

This three-month member exclusive career mentoring program pairs student members with an experienced HR professional to clarify career goals, develop or enhance an HR career plan, and strengthen high-demand skills. Participating student members will receive 1:1 career coaching and engage in monthly facilitated learning sessions for all mentors and mentees in the program that are designed to equip everyone with tools and activities to leverage in 1:1 discussions

  • For each HR Career Mentoring cohort, we recruit HR career mentors that represent diversity in demographics, industries, experiences, and perspectives.
  • Throughout the 3-month experience, we will administer pulse check surveys to ensure a high quality mentorship experience.
  • The time commitment for mentors and mentees is approximately 2 hours per month for three months.
