SHRM's 2016 Strategic Benefits Survey collected comprehensive information on wellness initiatives, including their use, return on investment and cost savings, as well as their effectiveness in reducing the costs of health care and improving the overall physical health of employees.
This research found that about two-thirds (68%) of HR professionals indicated their organization offered some type of wellness program, resource or service to employees. Among these respondents, 65% reported that wellness initiatives were "somewhat effective" or "very effective" in reducing the costs of health care; 72% indicated they were "somewhat effective" or "very effective" in improving the overall physical health of their employees.
