Michelle J. Bottomley has over 25 years of experience growing businesses via brand-building, digital and data-driven targeted marketing in ways that help companies make a positive difference in people's lives.
Most recently as the Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer at Staples, Michelle was responsible for driving growth via purpose-led branding and customer growth programs across staples.com, the b2b business and retail stores. She currently serves on the Bose Corporation Board as a director on the Compensation committee.
Michelle's experience in corporate marketing and agency leadership roles include serving as Sr. Partner, Chief Marketing Officer at Mercer, responsible for the firm's global marketing and sales strategy and initiatives and, prior to Mercer, as Barclaycard's Chief Marketing Officer for the global and US businesses where she and her teams drove topline revenue growth through branding, innovative financial services products, experiences and data-driven marketing. Before Barclaycard, Michelle led the NY office at Ogilvy & Mather New York (Co-President, COO) where she helped launch Amex Open as well as supported clients such as IBM, Kraft, Unilever, United Airlines, Ford Motor Company in their growth through customer-centricity. Her marketing career began at Bronner Slosberg Humphrey (Digitas) and Epsilon working with AT&T, Amex, Dayton-Hudson and Amtrak.
Michelle has served as an adjunct professor of integrated marketing at NYU's graduate school and been recognized by the DM News "Marketing Hall of Femme", NOW NY "Women of Power and Influence", Advertising Women of New York's "Working Mother of the Year" and AdAge's "Women to Watch." Michelle graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Biology and BA in Economics and took courses at Boston University toward a PhD in Economics. She lives in Princeton, NJ with her husband and their daughters.
