You can’t deliver an exceptional customer experience without first taking care of your employees. That idea rings truer than ever in a year that’s been defined by uncertainty and fiscal restraint. Employee experience has risen to the top as a key differentiator for organizations to weather the storm.

One such organization focusing on employee experience is Baystate Health, a not-for-profit integrated health system that is nationally recognized for nursing care and numerous medical specialties, and also ranks among the best employers in Massachusetts.

In this program, Baystate Health’s Patricia Samra, vice president of human resources operations and total rewards, and Jennifer Faulkner, vice president for team member experience will speak with Workhuman’s Derek Irvine to share how Baystate Health is focusing on physical and psychological safety, leveraging its Celebrates! recognition program during COVID-19 and is also taking innovative approaches to grow employee diversity and prosperity.

In this program, you'll learn:

  • Why modernizing recognition is key to jumpstarting a people-first culture
  • How Baystate Health channels the emotional impacts of recognition to achieve a seven times lower turnover rate among nurses
  • The innovative approaches that Baystate Health is taking to deliver on its DEI and talent goals
About the Presenters: Derek Irvine is Workhuman's senior vice president of client strategy and consulting. In this role, he helps clients leverage proven recognition strategies and best practices to elevate employee engagement, increase retention and improve bottom line results. Irvine oversaw the company’s global marketing and rewards functions from 2000 to 2010, growing Workhuman from a start-up to the leading organization it is today. Irvine is one of the world’s foremost experts on employee recognition and engagement and continuous performance management, helping business leaders set a higher vision and ambition for their company culture. His viewpoints and writings are also regularly featured across major HR publications including HR Zone, Workspan, HR Magazine, HR Executive and Workforce Management.

Samra has over 30 years of experience in a combination of nursing leadership and practice, human resource consulting and healthcare administrative leadership. She is a board member for MassHire Hampden County Workforce, the Organization of Nurse Leaders and a committee member for Massachusetts Healthcare Collaborative.
