The award for the most misunderstood and underutilized health care benefit goes to the health savings account (HSA). In this program, WEX Health's vice president of HR, Sherry Olson, will speak with financial expert and CEO of HerMoneyMedia, Jean Chatzky, about the importance of employers doing the work to dispel employees’ misconceptions about HSAs. In this time of increased financial hardship brought about by COVID-19, it’s more important than ever for HR leaders to help workers understand how an HSA can help them prepare for unexpected medical bills and save for future health care expenses.

During the session, Olson and Chatzky will lay out the reasons HSAs often get overlooked at open enrollment time and how those misconceptions can be remedied. They’ll share highlights of recent research WEX Health conducted to better understand workers’ attitudes toward HSAs, along with solutions to clearing hurdles that both employers and employees have faced in the past around HSAs. The research, conducted during the initial COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. revealed that 41 percent of respondents appreciate their benefits more so now than they did before the pandemic. Likewise, roughly a quarter of respondents are now contributing more to their HSAs as a way to be better prepared for unplanned medical expenses.

The content of this webcast will help clear up confusion about HSAs and help more workers get back on the road to financial recovery and wellness using the many benefits that HSAs provide.
