Despite significant investments in organizational change projects, studies show these initiatives have a 60 to 70 percent failure rate, according to Deloitte. To effectively institute changes in the workplace, leaders should first understand the psychological journey workers take to embrace the new. Learning the theoretical models of change management can also increase the likelihood of successfully implementing new programs, procedures, technology or other transformations.

Researchers in a recent Gartner study found that typical businesses have experienced five major organizationwide changes in the past three years – and nearly 75 percent expect to multiply their change initiatives in the next three years. Yet, only 34 percent of these transformations are a clear success.
