April 2 Is National Employee Benefits Day

April 2, 2012, marks the eighth annual celebration of National Employee Benefits Day to honor the important work that trustees, administrators, corporate benefits practitioners and professional advisors do on behalf of North America’s workforce. The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, which represents 35,000 members who influence 25 million lives across the United States and Canada, created the day to garner recognition for benefits professionals and to provide a vehicle for better educating employers and employees about benefits topics.

As part of this year’s celebration, the International Foundation is focusing on two of its most important initiatives: retirement security and value-based health care. The Benefits Day website, www.ifebp.org/benefitsday, has numerous resources for helping both employers and their employees celebrate.

• A 15-question retirement quiz to assess retirement preparedness

• An interactive budgeting worksheet to help develop a personal financial plan

A value-based health care podcast explaining what value-based health care is and how it can benefit any organization.

This site also contains helpful information for any employer looking to implement retirement security or value-based health care initiatives, including government resources, recent news updates, survey reports and helpful takeaway ideas.

National Employee Benefits Day was created in 2004 by the International Foundation and is celebrated annually each April.
