While there are hundreds of “HR metrics,” these metrics add value only when they are used to understand the impact of the organization’s human capital on the achievement of business objectives. When metrics are linked to financial performance, they help the organization assess and manage risks and make the right decisions.

This webinar discusses the importance of developing a context for your metrics, offers strategy for aligning your HR metrics with key business objectives, reviews the development of key performance indicators (KPIs), describes the calculation of employment practices liability risk exposure, a core competency, and reviews the role HR metrics play in helping the organization make critical business decisions. In addition, the program will provide data from SHRM's HR Benchmarking Service so that you can begin to understand how your organization's numbers stack up against industry norms.

Recruiting and retention are two of HR's most significant areas of responsibility. While an understanding of how to generate these statistics is essential, it's only the beginning to understanding an organization strengths and weaknesses. This program will begin with an overview of these common metrics -- cost per hire and turnover. The speakers will then challenge the audience to think about the elements behind these results. More advanced topics -- including quality of hire, employee engagement and performance measures -- will be explored, and sample data from SHRM's HR Benchmarking Service will be provided. The program will focus on how to determine which metrics you need to provide insight to organizational leaders. By being proactively providing and explaining the numbers behind the numbers, HR professionals can demonstrate their value to their organization and ensure that HR is seen as a necessary part of the business planning process.
