When health care reform passed in 2010, pundits and employers alike assumed that, by the time it came for key provisions to be enacted, the law would be substantively changed by Congress, the courts or a new president. Three years later, after Congressional challenges, court cases and a presidential election, PPACA remains relatively unchanged and key provisions will become effective in the coming year. In preparation, just this month the IRS issued new guidance on calculating the coverage threshold of 50 or more full-time equivalents, a key determinant in the application of the new Employer Responsibility provisions (sometimes known as “pay or play or not”).

Bottom line: If you've been waiting to determine how handle health care coverage under PPACA, you can't afford to wait any longer.

In this program, benefits expert and long-time SHRM speaker and contributor Gary Kushner will review the latest developments that affect your organization's compliance with PPACA, including court cases and regulatory guidance. He will also thoroughly review the law's pay or play provisions -- to help your organization determine whether it even wants to continue its current health care coverage strategy. And, he will lay out a timeline for 2013 and 2014 implementation of PPACA, so you have time to fully think out your 2014 benefits package and open-enrollment communication strategy.

You've learned the terminology of health care reform, and the ins and outs of its implementation. SHRM and other resources have provided you with much of the information you need to know about health care. But, questions remain -- now here's your chance to get those questions answered.

In this highly interactive 90-minute program, benefits expert and long-time SHRM speaker and contributor Gary Kushner of Kushner & Company in Portage, MI, will address seven common questions about health-care reform:

  • Are we better off continuing or discontinuing all of our health coverage, or should we offer different plans?

  • What is grandfathering, and is it worth protecting?

  • What are exchanges, and how will our company and employees interact with them?

  • What benefits (if any) should we offer part-time employees?

  • What do we do if our coverage doesn’t meet the minimum value test?

  • Does PPACA make self-insuring more advantageous or less?

  • What effect will PPACA have on the cost of insurance?

In addition, Mr. Kushner will select additional questions, submitted in advance by the audience, which will be included in the presentation. After you register, you will receive a link to an exclusive form that allows you to submit your question. The program will include a live-event question and answer session -- another opportunity to get your pressing questions answered.
