Public Policy Webcasts

   4/3/2009

SHRM is making it easy to stay a step ahead of HR public policy matters with the Emerging HR Public Policy Issues Series – A Live Workshop.  The first webcast, titled “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Being Prepared for New Labor-Relations Developments,” will occur on April 22, 2009.

Paul Salvatore—a partner at the law firm Proskauer Rose LLP.

Why a webcast on labor relations issues?  The National Labor Relations Act came about after the Great Depression of the 1930’s … and today’s economic challenges are giving rise to calls from the Obama Administration, Congress, and the Nation Labor Relations Board for an expanded pro-labor policy agenda.

The presenter, Paul Salvatore — a partner at the law firm Proskauer Rose LLP — will discuss Congressional initiatives such as the Employee Free Choice Act, new regulatory labor-management proposals from the Obama administration, and a more employee-focused National Labor Relations Board.  He will also explain the current rise in collective bargaining activity in the workplace and the legal and practical requirements of these developments, and prepare you for what lies ahead.

Registration will be open soon.  For more information, please e-mail your name, SHRM Member ID, and the best e-mail address at which to contact you to SHRMWebcasts@shrm.org.
