This week, SHRM President & CEO Hank Jackson and Senior Vice President Membership, Marketing & External Affairs Bob Carr, hosted Representative Kristi Noem (R-SD) at the Women’s Policy, Inc. (WPI) Annual Gala in Washington, DC.

WPI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that engages policymakers at the federal, state and local levels on key women's issues.  WPI’s annual event celebrates women who have served and are currently serving in the U.S. Congress. This year, the event was led by Co-Chairs Representatives Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) and Donna F. Edwards (D-MD), and Vice-Chairs Representatives Kristi Noem and Doris O. Matsui (D-CA).  “It’s a historic time for women in Congress,” remarked Rep. Beutler.  “With more women Members than ever before and pressing issues that affect women and families here and abroad, I’m pleased to be able to come together and share stories of collaboration with the other members of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues to celebrate our work together during the 113th Congress.”

SHRM’s guest, Representative Kristi Noem (pictured above with Hank Jackson) currently serves on the Agriculture Committee and House Armed Services Committee. In her capacity on the Armed Serves Committee, Rep. Neom has been a champion for veterans affairs, including issues related to reemployment of veterans into the workforce.
