Community Partners – The Key to Success for the When Work Works Initiative

In 2012, the hundreds of recipients of the Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility used workplace flexibility as a business strategy to meet organizational goals.  These employers-of-choice realized the many business benefits of implementing flexible workplace strategies, including more engaged and productive employees, the ability to attract and retain top talent, and a more satisfied workforce.

When Work Works Community Partners are located in cities and states across the country and are an integral component to the initiative’s success. Community Partners have three main responsibilities:

  • Educate employers about the business benefits of workplace flexibility
  • Promote awareness about workplace flexibility and the Sloan Award

SHRM and the Families and Work Institute are pleased to welcome several new SHRM state councils and chapters to serve as 2013 Community Partners, including Cleveland SHRM, Greater Orlando Society for Human Resource Management, and the Illinois State Council. Your leadership and hard work in promoting workplace flexibility and the Sloan Award is appreciated!

When Work Works Outreach

This was a monumental week for the continued roll-out of When Work Works in 2013 target states!  A total of six workflex educational programs were delivered at SHRM chapters this week, including programs at five chapters stretching along the eastern half of Washington State.  Special thanks to the Washington State SHRM Council for its assistance in arranging this impressive Workflex Tour de Washington and to the participating chapters for their enthusiasm and support for flexibility!  Pictured below are members of Columbia Basin SHRM and the Washington State SHRM Council.
