Four percent of employers offer electric car charging stations to employees, SHRM survey finds

   7/2/2014

Four percent of employers are offering electric vehicle charging stations to employees, according to the 2014 SHRM Employee Benefits Survey report from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

An additional 1 percent of employers plan to offer the benefit within the next 12 months.

“Corporate social responsibility is a trending practice among companies. Adding this benefit is yet another example of that,” said Bruce Elliott, manager of compensation and benefits at SHRM. “Additionally, the needs of employees are changing, and in response, companies are adapting to meet those needs.”

The survey, released annually, polled 510 randomly selected HR professionals. It examines more than 300 benefits. HR professionals were asked about electric car charging stations for the first time this year.
