H1N1 Flu Symptoms

5/1/2009  By Aleita Johnson

·       Similar to the common flu, symptoms of the H1N1 virus include fever, fatigue, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, vomiting and diarrhea. Symptoms can develop within one to four days and range from mild to severe. If these symptoms occur, people should call their doctor.

·       The flu virus has the greatest chance of entering the body through the eyes, nose and mouth, so people are advised to avoid touching those places after touching shared surfaces and to wash their hands frequently. People are advised to avoid close contact with sick people.

·       There is no current vaccine against the swine flu; in the meantime, however, it is recommended that people take the antiviral drugs Relenza and Tamifu to help with recovery.
