Since SHRM signed a Statement of Support with the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in 2010, we have made the hiring, retention, and support of military-connected employees a priority.  SHRM has challenged all state councils and chapters to sign their own statements of support and the response has been tremendous, with more signing every month.  SHRM is finalizing a toolkit designed to help HR professionals create programs focused on recruiting as well as supporting veterans, guard, reservists and military spouses in the workplace.  We also continue to provide military-relevant programming at SHRM conferences.  The real hiring and support, of course, takes place in communities across the country.  As HR profesionals, we may well be a veteran's first point of contact on this issue and connecting with ESGR and other resources at the local level is critical to the profession and to those who have served our country.  To access the list of SHRM state councils and chapters that have signed a Statement of Support, please click here.  To arrange a Statement of Support signing, contact ESGR at tom.bullock@osd.mil.
