2010-2011 Student Chapter Merit Awards
Updated June 1, 2011

Results Overview

SHRM’s annual Student Chapter Merit Award program exists to develop more effective student chapters and to promote outstanding chapter activities and projects in four areas:
  1. Basic Student Chapter Requirements
  2. Chapter Programming and Professional Development of Members
  3. Support of the Human Resource Profession
  4. Partnership with SHRM

All SHRM student chapters are invited to submit an entry and chapters can earn awards regardless of their size. In the fall, the Merit Award application is sent to all student chapter advisors. The application should be used as a tool for planning activities throughout the year. In the spring, the application is completed by listing the chapter's activities in the appropriate categories and providing any required documentation.

Completed applications and documentation are then submitted to SHRM by March 31 for review and scoring. All active chapters that complete the required number of activities are granted either a Merit or a Superior Merit Award and receive award plaques in recognition of their accomplishment.

Completing a Merit Award application is a great way to review and evaluate the chapter's progress towards its goals. Winning a Merit or Superior Merit Award provides the chapter with national recognition for a job well done.

For the 2010-2011 Merit Award cycle, the following awards were granted to SHRM student chapters:
