In his current role, George Boué is responsible for all Human Resources management (HRM) and administrative activities for this leading Commercial Real Estate Services and Construction Company. He also has corporate oversight of safety and security. He started his career in the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) industry, in both consulting and corporate roles. He has held the designation of Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and was one of the first to attain the Indoor Air Quality sub-specialty credentials. He led consulting departments at TRC Environmental, ATEC Associates, and Law Engineering (now MACTEC). He had EHS responsibilities for Nortel Networks’ Caribbean & Latin American operations, including manufacturing operations in Brazil and Mexico.  It was at Nortel that he worked closely with a world-class human resources team, and got involved in business ethics work, helping develop Nortel’s global Code of Business Conduct and affiliated training programs.  When Nortel decided to outsource its manufacturing, he was invited to join the HR team and made a career change. George graduated with an MBA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and received a Master of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Hunter College School of Medicine in New York. He also holds a BS in Life Sciences from Manhattan College in New York City. He has the attained the designation of LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and is fluent in Spanish.

A long-time SHRM volunteer, Philip Deming previously served one year on the Health Safety and Security Panel and has authored a number of whitepapers for SHRM.  Deming is a Results oriented senior administrative and human resource leader with demonstrated accomplishments in large domestic organizations with multiple and interstate locations with labor intensive services. Robert Miller is a graduate of UCLA in sociology; he also attended West Los Angeles School of Law. He earned his Professional in Human Resources and California certification (PHR-CA) from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).  Additionally, he has earned national certifications from the Insurance Educational Association as a Workers’ Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) and Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM). While employed by the State of California as Information and Assistance Officer for the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, he served as assistant to the presiding judge, arbitrator and assisted injured workers before the appeals board who were not represented by legal counsel and also provided claims administration guidance to insurance adjusters. He served as a discrimination investigator for the Office of Affirmative Action Compliance for the County of Los Angeles.  Later in his career, Miller assumed the position of Civil Service Representative for the Department of Public Safety (County Police), Department of Children/Family Services and the Department of Health Services, County of Los Angeles and King Drew Medical Center. As a Civil Service Representative, he represented management in union grievance procedures and administrative law hearings before the County of Los Angeles Civil Service Commission and contract negotiations against employee unions.  He later assumed the positions of Administrative Director for the Division of Endocrinology at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science and Human Resources Manager for the university’s Head Start Program. Currently, Miller is the Director of Human Resources for the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District.

W. Barry Nixon is the Executive Director, the National Institute for Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., a company focused on assisting organizations to effectively implement programs to prevent workplace violence. With over 20 years in Human Resources and Organization Development in Fortune 500 companies, Mr. Nixon is well grounded in the real issues companies face and develops practical solutions based on his real life experiences. Prior to founding the Institute, Nixon studied 'General Management' in the Executive Management Program, University of Hawaii.  He earned a masters’ degree in Human Resource Development from the New School University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Northeastern University.  Nixon has also completed the Advanced Human Resource Management program of Babson College, as well as the certification programs in Organization Development from National Training Laboratories, Systems Thinking from MIT, and the highly acclaimed "Creating Competitive Advantage through Human Resources," program from the University of Michigan's School of Industrial Relations. In addition, Nixon is a frequently requested speaker both in the US and internationally on the subject of Workplace Violence and Background Screening. He recently presented at the World HR Congress held in Singapore and the Annual India’s Preemployment Conference in Bangalore. Nancy Slotnick is the CEO of Setracon, Inc., a consultancy focused on the provision of quality security and protective services, investigations, the conduct of risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments, and the professional development and training of security, law enforcement, and military personnel. Prior to her current position, she served as a human resources practitioner in the U.S. Army for 25 years, where many of her assignments demanded that she be acutely aware of the threat environment and employee protection issues.
