Last month, SHRM sponsored and participated in the 2010 Annual Conferences of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), joining participants such as Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
SHRM Interim President and CEO Hank Jackson applauded both organizations for their historic dedication to supporting diverse and inclusive workplaces.
He said, “Our members know that the greatest way to get the most from an organization is to bring out the best in all of its people. SHRM and its members promote workplaces that invest in their people. We foster a workplace that is flexible and that benefits both employers and employees alike.”
Later in the month, SHRM hosted a variety of CHROs, members of Congress and administration officials at CHCI’s Annual Awards Gala. President Obama and the First Lady attended.
At the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation event, SHRM sponsored a roundtable discussion with emerging African American leaders. At that event, Jackson recalled his time as CFO for Howard University and encouraged an audience of young state legislators, academics and Obama administration members to follow their dreams. The standing-room-only event was broadcast on C-SPAN.
