In recognition of SHRM’s growing reputation as a workplace flexibility thought leader, we were invited to participate in another White House event on work and family issues. It was hosted by Vice President Joe Biden, the Middle Class Task Force, and the White House Council on Women and Girls. Lisa Horn from our Government Affairs team participated, as did officials such as Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett.
At the event, the administration launched a new resource – the Work-Life Event Starter Kit – to encourage dialogue and action on workplace flexibility issues. Secretary Solis also announced that DOL’s Women’s Bureau plans to hold four regional events in Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City. Each will focus on a different segment of the economy (small businesses, manufacturers) or workforce (hourly and white-collar employees). We’ll keep you informed.
