The U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Education invited SHRM to participate in the 2009 Flu Summit held at National Institutes of Health on Thursday, July 9, 2009.
The full-day summit provided state and local government officials with information on preparing for the likely increase in H1N1 influenza cases this fall.
Recognizing that a massive flu outbreak could have serious repercussions for schools, medical facilities and workplaces, federal officials urged state and locals governments to partner with private sector organizations to spread the word on preparedness.
